Reservation in India: Failure of Affirmative Action

Should jobs, schools, universities and political institutions go on with reservations or quotas? A question that has been evoking serious thoughts and fuelling debates since its inception. Unfortunately, the apathy of self-labelled liberals which is neither liberal, left nor right, to contrive the pro-reservation arguments on the substructure of reason is far more desolating than the hollow contention of reservation by far-right. More ridiculous is the incapacity of rationale to set forth without being labelled as either of the two. The serious questions overlooked are whether reservation has been serving the purpose and what really is the purpose after all? Although there seems to be no room for doubt on the later, it is often where the crusades of far-right and self-labelled liberals meet.
